Generic Seroquel - Quetiapine is a psychotropic agent belonging to a chemical class, the dibenzothiazepine derivatives. Generic Seroquel is supplied for oral administration as:

• 25 mg - peach, round, film-coated tablet imprinted with "SEROQUEL 25",
• 100 mg - yellow, round, film-coated tablet imprinted with "SEROQUEL 100",
• 200 mg - white, round, film-coated tablet imprinted with "SEROQUEL 200"..

Generic Seroquel works by targeting the specific areas of the brain that are affected by the illness and helps to regulate the actions of the neurotransmitters - dopamine and serotonin - that play an important role in brain functioning.
Active Ingredients: Quetiapine
Inactive Ingredients: dibasic dicalcium phosphate dihydrate, sodium starch glycolate, lactose monohydrate, povidone, microcrystalline cellulose, magnesium stearate, hypromellose, polyethylene glycol and titanium dioxide.

It is used to treat psychotic symptoms of such illnesses as schizoaffective disorder and schizophrenia, including delusions, hallucinations, paranoia and catatonia. It is also approved for use in treating acute manic episodes of bipolar disorder with or without psychotic features.

In clinical trials, it was effective in a dose range of 150 mg/day to 750 mg/day. Generic Seroquel usually starts working in about one and a half hours. The medication may take longer to exhibit beneficial effects in some people due to symptoms and other factors.
Generic Seroquel usually is taken two or three times daily. The dose usually is increased slowly over several days or weeks to achieve the desired effect. Generic Seroquel can be taken with or without food.

Keep this medication out of reach of children.
Store it at room temperature and away from excess heat and moisture (not in the bathroom).
Throw away any medication that is outdated or no longer needed.

Generic Seroquel contraindications include hypersensitivity to the medication or any of its ingredients. People with a history of seizures should consult their health care professional before using Generic Seroquel, as should patients with cardiovascular disease, dehydration, cerebrovascular disease, hyperglycemia, diabetes, pancreas problems, hypovolemia, Alzheimer's disease, pregnancy, hypothyroidism, and hepatic impairment.

The missed dose should be taken as soon as you remember it. However, if it is almost time for the next dose, skip the missed dose and continue your regular dosing schedule.
NOTE: Do not take a double dose to make up for a missed one.

Symptoms of overdose may include: fainting, drowsiness, dizziness, fast heartbeat. If an overdose is suspected establish and maintain an airway and ensure adequate oxygenation and ventilation and call your local emergency immediately.

Generic Seroquel may cause the following reactions: drowsiness, dry mouth, decrease in appetite, weight gain, muscle aches, sore throat, loss of balance control, slowed movements, stiffness of arms or legs, swelling of feet or lower legs trembling and shaking of hands and fingers, trouble in breathing speaking, or swallowing, indigestion, abdominal pain, abnormal vision, fainting, constipation, dizziness, increased muscle tone, increased sweating, stuffy or runny nose, indigestion, abdominal pain, abnormal vision, fever, chills, decreased strength and energy, fast or irregular heartbeat, headache, shuffling walk skin rash.

One of the most common side effects is a condition called neuroleptic malignant syndrome, or NMS. NMS causes muscle rigidity, fever, tremors, irregular blood pressure, delirium, coma and cognitive disruptions. These symptoms often catch victims off guard, and if left unchecked they can be fatal.

A similar, but less fatal side effect of Generic Seroquel use is called tardive dyskinesia, a condition characterized by spastic and pointless movements of the face, lips, and eyelids. Seroquel is also known to cause weight gain, sedation, headache, memory problems, dizziness, constipation, dyspepsia, and agitation.

Generic Seroquel drug interactions can be serious, and can even prove fatal. Some of the common drugs that should never be taken with Generic Seroquel include:
• phenytoin (Dilantin)
• thioridazine (Mellaril)
• carbamazepine (Tegretol)
• phenobarbital (Luminal, Solfoton)
• rifampin (Rifadin)
• itraconazole (Sporanox)
• ketoconazole (Nizoral)
• erythromycin (Ery-Tab, E-Mycin, E.E.S., others)
• fluconazole (Diflucan)

Steroids
• cortisone (Cortef, others)
• prednisone (Deltasone, Orasone)
• methylprednisolone (Medrol)
• prednisolone (Prelone, Pediapred, others)
• dexamethasone (Decadron)

Parkinson's medication such as:
• ropinirole (Requip)
• selegiline (Eldepryl)
• levodopa (Sinemet, Larodopa, Stalevo, Atamet)
• pramipexole (Mirapex)

Generic Seroquel can also have negative effects on these drugs:
• Phenytoin
• Divalproex
• Thioridazine
• Cimetidine
• P450 3A Inhibitors
• Fluoxetine
• Imipramine
• Haloperidol
• Risperidone
• Lithium
• Antipyrine

Keep this medicine out of the reach of children.
Do not use this medicine for other health conditions.
Do not share this medicine with others for whom it was not prescribed.
