Generic Retin-A is a derivative of Vitamin A. It is a cure for comedonal acne, whiteheads and blackheads. It is also used to prevent the formation of new comedones. It is the only topical medication that ameliorates wrinkles.
It works by increasing skin cell turnover promoting the extrusion of the plugged material in the follicle. In the same way Retin-A can reduce areas of darkened skin, rough areas of skin, all of which occur in sun-damaged skin, as well as some wrinkles. Active Ingredients: Tretinoin.
Inactive Ingredients: purified water, glycerin, disodium EDTA, propylene glycol, sorbic acid, PPG-20 methyl glucose ether distearate, cyclomethicone and dimethicone copolyol, benzyl alcohol, carbomer 974P (0.04% formulation), carbomer 934P (0.1% formulation), trolamine, and butylated hydroxytoluene.

Generic Retin-A is usually prescribed for acne, poor skin texture and hyperpigmentation. Retin-A brings acne plugs that cause blackheads and dislocate them. It also increase the exfoliation process and removes all dead cells including blackheads. It is better observed after the peeling procedure. It considerably improves the state of damaged skin.

You should keep your face clean. It should be washed at least 2 times with a non-soap cleanser during the day. It is recommended to do the procedure every evening, before going to sleep. The procedure with Generic Retin-A should be started with cleaning the face, after that it should stay dry for 15 minutes and only after that, a drop of Generic Retin-A should be applied to the face. Be careful, it should not get into your eyes.
Every morning a moisturizer should be applied to the skin. It is recommended to use a moisturizer that contains a sunscreen of 15 or higher. It can be substituted with an alpha hydroxyacid preparation. It is strongly recommended to avoid sun exposure between 10 a.m. and 2 p.m.
Decrease the application of Generic Retin-A to every other night or even every third night if the skin becomes too red and dry.
This medicine should be kept out of the reach of children. The most suitable temperature for storage is below 30 degrees C (86 degrees F) for liquid and gel and below 27 if it is a cream. It should be kept away from heat and flame as well as protected from light.

It is not well known the effect of Generic Retin-A on pregnant women. That's why it should be used only when absolutely necessary. The supervision of doctor is recommended.
The efficacy of Generic Retin-A is very often attended by skin irritation. This phenomenon is directly related to the effectiveness of the product in the treatment of acne. It disappears once applications are more spaced out.
You should wait until any skin rash clears up before beginning even low strength treatment if you have been previously treated with keratolytic preparations or exfoliants.

If you miss a dose, skip that dose and continue with your regular schedule. Do not use extra doses, or use for a longer period of time than directed by your prescriber or health care professional.
NOTE: Use of too much Retin-A can cause skin irritation.

The symptoms of an overdose are: peeling of the skin, redness, blistering, or an abnormal irritation. If some of these effects appeared notify your doctor immediately. He may suggest that you use the medication less often, discontinue use temporarily, or discontinue use altogether

The most often side effects that have been observed are:
• dryness
• scaling
• redness

Sometimes following the application of Generic Retin-A to the skin a local inflammation can appear as well as mild stinging or a sensation of warmth.. These reactions disappear when treatment is stopped.
Some patients using Generic Retin-A develop an increased sensitivity to develop sunburn (photosensitivity). Therefore, it is advisable to avoid exposing treated areas of the skin to excessive sunlight or UV lamps to reduce the risk of severe sunburn.

Do not use Generic Retin-A with:

Certain antibiotics:
• Cipro
• Noroxin
• Tetracycline etc.

Major tranquilizers:
• Thorazine
• Mellaril etc.

Sulfa drugs:
• Bactrim
• Septra etc.

Thiazide drugs (water pills):
• Diuril
• HydroDIURIL

These drugs also increase sensitivity to sunlight.
Caution should be exercised when using Generic Retin-A in combination with other topical medications: spices or lime (especially the peel); hair depilatories or waxes; medicated or abrasive soaps and cleansers; soaps and cosmetics that have a strong drying effect; products with high concentrations of alcohol; permanent wave solutions; electrolysis; astringents; other preparations that may dry or irritate the skin. If these medications are used with certain other drugs, the effects could be increased, decreased, or altered. It is especially important to check with your doctor before combining Generic Retin-A with:

• preparations containing benzoyl peroxide:
  Benzac AC Wash 5
  Benzshave Desquam-E
  PanOxyl etc.
  
  
• preparations containing sulfur (ointments and other preparations used to treat skin disorders and infections)
• resorcinol (a drug, used in ointments to treat acne, that causes skin to peel)
• salicylic acid (a drug that kills bacteria and fungi and causes skin to peel).

Keep this medicine out of the reach of children.
Do not use this medicine for other health conditions.
Do not share this medicine with others for whom it was not prescribed.
