Generic Pamelor - Notriptyline is an antidepressant medication of the tricyclic class. Medications in this class are often referred to as tricyclic antidepressants, or TCAs. Depression is an all-pervasive sense of sadness and gloom. In some patients with depression, abnormal levels of brain neurotransmitters (chemicals that the nerve cells use to communicate with each other) may be responsible for the depression. Generic Pamelor - Notriptyline elevates the mood ("anti-depresses") by raising the level of neurotransmitters in brain tissue.
Active Ingredients: Nortriptyline hydrochloride
Inactive Ingredients: gelatin, silicone fluid, sodium lauryl sulfate, starch, and titanium dioxide, D&C Yellow #10, FD&C Yellow #6.

Generic Pamelor - Notriptyline is used to relieve symptoms of depression such as feelings of sadness, worthlessness, or guilt; loss of interest in daily activities, changes in appetite, tiredness, sleeping too much, insomnia, and thoughts of death or suicide.

Take Generic Pamelor - Notriptyline capsules by mouth. Follow the directions on the prescription label. Swallow the capsules with a drink of water. Take your doses at regular intervals. Do not take your medicine more often than directed. Do not stop taking except on your prescriber’s advice.
Contact your pediatrician or health care professional regarding the use of this medicine in children. Special care may be needed.
Elderly patients over 65 years old and adolescents may have a stronger reaction to this medicine and need smaller doses.

STORAGE
Store at room temperature away from excess heat and moisture (not in the bathroom) and light. Keep all medicines away from children and pets. Throw away any medication that is outdated or no longer needed.

Tell your doctor your medical history, including: allergies, kidney/urinary problems, enlarged prostate, glaucoma (narrow angle), severe high blood pressure, heart disease, diabetes, thyroid problems (hyperthyroid). Limit alcohol intake, as it may aggravate drug side effects. Generic Pamelor - Notriptyline should be used only when clearly needed during pregnancy. Discuss the risks and benefits with your doctor. The pseudoephedrine in this product is excreted into breast milk. Consult your doctor before breast-feeding. Caution is advised when this product is used in the elderly since this group may be more sensitive to side effects.

Take the missed dose as soon as you remember it. However, if it is almost time for the next dose, skip the missed dose and continue your regular dosing schedule. Do not take a double dose to make up for a missed one.

In case of overdose, call emergency or your local poison control center. Symptoms of overdose may include seizures, confusion, drowsiness, agitation, hallucinations, and low blood pressure (dizziness, fatigue, fainting).

Side effects from Generic Pamelor - Notriptyline are common:
• upset stomach
• drowsiness
• weakness or tiredness
• excitement or anxiety
• insomnia
• nightmares
• dry mouth
• skin more sensitive to sunlight than usual
• changes in appetite or weight

Tell your doctor if any of these symptoms are severe or do not go away:
• constipation
• difficulty urinating
• frequent urination
• blurred vision
• changes in sex drive or ability
• excessive sweating

If you experience any of the following symptoms or those listed in the IMPORTANT WARNING section, call your doctor immediately:
• jaw, neck, and back muscle spasms
• slow or difficult speech
• shuffling walk
• persistent fine tremor or inability to sit still
• fever
• difficulty breathing or swallowing
• severe skin rash
• yellowing of the skin or eyes
• irregular heartbeat

Keep all appointments with your doctor and the laboratory. Your doctor will order certain lab tests to check your response to nortriptyline. Do not let anyone else take your Generic Pamelor - Notriptyline. If using this medicine for an extended period of time, obtain refills before your supply runs out. Ask your pharmacist any questions you have about refilling your prescription.
